Simon Says Stamp STAMPtember Blog Party

Hi Friends! It’s time to kick off all the fun with Simon Says Stamp’s STAMPtember celebration!! I’m part of the blog party and If you’re not familiar with STAMPtember, it’s a month of fun filled stamping excitement and releases. There are exclusive releases and collaborations that Simon puts together with many of your favorite stamping companies, new exclusive Simon Says Stamp products and a few surprises sprinkled in along the way. You’ll want to check in each day because you never know what they’ve got up their sleve and you don’t want to miss out on all the fun.

To kick off the celebration each blog party designer will have a free gift for you, so make sure you check out all who are participating. You can find the list of designers here. My free gift is an exclusive XL Birthday Greeting 6×8 stamp set with a purchase of $100 or more! Make sure to use the coupon code at checkout. All the details are in the graphic below.

I was so happy to work with the new Toil & Trouble stamp set and put together a tutorial so you could see how I put it all together. Enjoy!

Sprinkle Alcohol Blending Solution onto alcohol yupo paper and sprinkle on alcohol ink over the solution. Sprinkle one color at a time and spread with the Ranger Air Blower before the ink dries. Do one color at a time and dry inbetween each addition of color. Continue the process until you’re happy with the outcome.

While the alcohol ink background dries, color all the images from the new Toil & Trouble stamp set. I love painting with the new Distress Mica Stains and found a little trick to paint with them. The mica in the bottle settles on the bottom so you will need to shake the bottle before painting. After shaking the bottle to distribute the mica, carefully remove the cap and allow a drop of mica stain to fall from the spray tube onto a craft mat. You will notice the mica sits on top of the ink drop. Gently tap the paintbrush on top of the mica stain and gently paint the image. You don’t want to push the mica to the sides so use a dabbing motion onto the image with the paintbrush as opposed to using brush strokes.

Next create three background pieces out of watercolor cardstock using a stitched squares and rectangles die set. Ink each piece with Wilted Violet Distress Ink using a Simon Says Stamp Blending Brush. Spritz each piece with water and dry with a heat tool.

Cut another set of stitched squares and rectangles out of black cardstock but use the next size die bigger for each purple background piece than you created. Using a scissors, cut away the stitched portion so the jagged edges are left behind. I made a snip on one edge of the jagged edge and used my fingertips to tear along the edge to remove the stitched portion.

Adhere the purple background to their coordinating jagged edge pieces as shown above.

Adhere the three purple background pieces to the alcohol inked background as shown above.

Adhere the colored images as shown above using 3D foam tape to give dimension.

Adhere the main card front to the center of a piece of black cardstock and add the sentiment strip along the bottom of the card and you’re done.

I hope you enjoyed seeing how I put this card together. Don’t forget to check out Simon Says Stamp every day throughout the month to see all the exclusive sets from all the different companies for this Stamptember event.

Thanks so much for stopping by and sticking with me to the end. Happy Stamping!!
