Yesterday, Today, Forever – Tim Holtz Flower Jar

Hi Friends! I’ve seen so many beautiful cards and mixed media creations featuring the Tim Holtz Flower Jar. To me, this set is a must have. It’s beautiful and the flower are so delicate. I can imagine using it in so many ways and on so many projects. It’s such a gorgeous collection of flowers and when combined together they make the prettiest flower arrangements. I hope you enjoy my use of this set and the small tutorial I put together featuring the background I created for this card.

Handmade Card using Tim Holtz Flower Jar - Step 1

To begin, smudge some Distress Oxides onto a craft mat or glass mat and spritz with water. Spritz a little water onto the watercolor paper and swipe the paper through the oxides picking up colors as you swipe. Dry completely with heat tool and repeat this process about three times or until you’re pleased with the way it looks. Make sure to completely dry between each new application.

When the background is completely dry, add some texture and interest to the background with stencils and white embossing paste. Allow the embossing paste to completely dry before moving on to the next step.

When the background is completely dry, dry brush white acrylic paint in center area of the background.

To complete the card, I added the Tim Holtz Flower Jar and flowers to one side of the panel. The flowers and jar are colored with Distress Inks by swiping the inks onto a craft mat or glass mat and picking the colors up with a water brush. I added some chit chat stickers, twine and applied Ground Espresso Distress Crayon around the sentiment. I adhered the panel onto a piece of Simon Says Stamp Dark Chocolate cardstock and this card is done.

I hope you enjoyed seeing how I put this card together. Thanks so much for stopping by!
