Merry & Bright – Unique Way to Use Stencils

Hi Everyone! I’m here today for bit of inspiration for Tammy Tutterow Designs. This week I’ll show you how to stretch your stencils in a unique way. For my card, I used the Tammy Tutterow Designs Polka Party and Petite Greens stencils to create the Holly Berries and the beautiful Christmas Tree is from Tammy’s Merry & Bright stamp set. Enjoy!

Stencil on two leaves from the Petite Greens stencil in Peeled Paint Distress Ink using a mini ink blending tool. I’m using Bristol watercolor paper.

Swipe a small dauber inked with Forest Moss Distress Ink over one side of the leaves to add shading. I use a gentle upward stroke to add the ink.

Using the smallest circles from the Polka Party stencil set, ink on three berries in Festive Berries Distress Ink using a small dauber.

Use a black get pen to add small dots to the holly berries.

Fussy cut the holly berries and leaves as one piece and add dimension and shading with Copic markers or Distress Markers. Also go around the edges with a dark green marker on the leaves and a dark red marker on the berries to cover the white cardstock along the edges.

The Merry & Bright Christmas Tree is stamped onto Neenah Solar White 110 lb. cardstock and colored with Copic markers. I used the Simon Says Stamp Scallop Stitches wafer die along one edge of the image. I adhered that panel onto a 5″ x 7″ piece of cardstock from the Tim Holtz Tidings Paper Stash and along the edge I adhered a thin strip of Simon Says Stamp Schoolhouse Red cardstock. I created three sets of holly berries from the Tammy Tutteros Polka Dot and Petite Greens stencils and adhered them to the top and bottom corners of the card.

I hope you enjoyed this short tutorial on how to stretch your stencils and that you’ll give this a try with some of the stencils in your stash. Thanks for sticking with me to the end and have an awesome day!
