Paper Piecing Quilt Blocks – Tammy Tutterow Designs

Hi everyone! I hope you’re having a good week and getting ready for a fun weekend ahead. I’m here today to share a card I created using Tammy Tutterow Designs #handmade stamp set. It’s such a sweet set and I had so much fun creating this card by paper piecing the quilt blocks together. As many of you may know, I’m babysitting my granddaughter and have had to completely schedule my days differently. At first I was having a terrible time getting everything done. I’m still raising my own family as well, so I felt like I was drowning. A little tweeking of my former schedule and I now have time to fit everything I need to accomplish in each day. I admit, I don’t have time for any down time but I’ve never been one to sit still anyway so it works for me.

This card does require a lot of fussy cutting but it was relaxing for me and a perfect activity to do while my granddaughter was taking her nap. Piecing it together was easy and didn’t take as long as I thought it would take by using a trick I’ll share with you in the tutorial below. It’s also a wonderful way to use up some of the patterned paper you have laying around. Enjoy!

Paper Piecing Handmade Card - Step 1

To begin, I stamp the quilt stamp onto three different patterned paper cardstocks. I stamp the image on the opposite side of the patterns I want to use. I stamp the image using Simon Says Stamp Barely Beige ink because I don’t want the quilt lines to show through. After stamping each style of patterned paper, I cut along the lines to create all the pieces I need to put together the quilt blocks. I also stamp the image onto a piece of Neenah Solar White 110 lb. cardstock in the same ink.

I cut out the quilt block and cover the entire surface with an adhesive dot runner. By covering the surface with adhesive it allows me to piece the paper pieces onto the quilt block quickly.

Paper Piecing Handmade Card - Step 4

I create two different patterns using the same cardstocks and now I have all the quilt blocks I need to assemble to card.

To finish the card, I cut a 5″ x 5″ card base panel and adhere the quilt blocks to the four corners. I stamp the sentiment onto a piece of Neenah Solar White cardstock in Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide. I cut the sentiment out following the lines of the words and gently ink the edges with the same ink. I adhere the sentiment to the center of the card panel with 3M foam tape and my card is done.

I hope you enjoyed seeing how I put together this sweet card. Once you have all the pieces cut out, piecing the quilt blocks together goes by quickly and it is very relaxing. Have a great rest of your week and thanks so much for stopping by!
