Hi everyone! I love this time of year when Fall is just around the corner and it’s time to get out all the spooky Halloween and Autumn themed stamps and dies. For my project today, I’m combining the old with the new. You’ll notice last year’s Tim Holtz Idea-ology pieces along with some of his new stamp sets from Stampers Anonymous. I’ve created a very short tutorial for the two backgrounds that I created for the card. Enjoy!
To create the bottom card panel, start with a 5″ x 7″ piece of watercolor paper. Smoosh Black Soot, Forest Moss and Hickory Smoke Distress Oxides onto a glass or craft mat and spritz them with water. Spritz the watercolor paper with water, as well, and run the paper through the oxides on the glass mat. Dry with heat tool. Next, apply the Diamonds Shifter stencil to the background using Black Soot and Wild Honey Distress Inks.
For the top card panel, cut a 4″ x 6″ piece of watercolor paper. Smoosh Spiced Marmalade, Fossilized Amber, Wild Honey and Black Soot Distress Oxides onto a glass or craft mat and spritz with water. Spritz the watercolor paper with water, as well, and run it through the oxide colors. Continue doing so until you are please with the background making sure to heat each layer before adding another. Dry completely with heat tool and add Wild Honey and Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks with a mini ink blending tool in random areas to brighten up the background. Dry completely with heat tool.
Add the Tim Holtz Ornate background stamp to the panel with Black Soot Archival Ink.
To complete the card, wrap a layer of Mummy Cloth to the bottom panel and adhere that to a 5-1/4″ x 7-1/4″ piece of Simon Says Stamp Black cardstock. Adhere a 4-1/4″ x 6-1/4″ piece black cardstock to the top panel as well. Cut the Tim Holtz Ornate #2 Frame out of a piece of Tim Holtz Black Classic Kraft Stock that has been sanded and blend Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink over the sanded areas. Adhere the frame to the top card panel with black 3D foam tape. Cut the Tim Holtz Mixed Media Halloween Spider Web and adhere pieces of it behind the frame. Add the smallest sized Tim Holtz Stacked Baroque die to the center of the panel and adhere a Crypt Cameo to the center of the Baroque die piece. Adhere a skull and crossbones to the top of the frame and a Halloween Quote Chip to the bottom of the card panel and the card is done.
WOW … these backgrounds are amazing ( I’ll be back to refresh my memory)… must try !!
love the card and I love the background! Especially the Shifter Stencil diamonds!!
