Simon Says Stamp STAMPtember 2017 – Stamp It

Hi Everyone! Welcome to September and you know what that means, right? Yep, it’s time for Simon Says Stamp’s annual STAMPtember celebration!! There are so many fun surprises planned for this year’s event, Facebook Live events, giveaways and even some fun on Instagram too.  Join us for all the festivities and let’s get stamping!

For my project, I’m featuring the Simon Says Stamp Picture Book Sweet Cat die and boy what a cutie this little guy is. Since Fall is right around the corner, I thought I’d have him peeking from behind some leaves. There are a few photos below on how I put it together. Enjoy!

Also, check out this month’s guest designer, Carol Harper from Carol Stamps. I know you’ll enjoy her talent and I’m so happy she’s with us this month to share in all the fun of STAMPtember. Stop by and send her some love.

Simon Says Stamp PICTURE BOOK SWEET CAT Wafer Dies S461 STAMPtember
Simon Says Stamp Picture Book Sweet Cat
To begin, I create a frame using the Tim Holtz Stitched Rectangles die and cut it out of Neenah Solar White 110 lb. card stock. I inked the frame with Vintage Photo and Ground Espresso Distress Inks and the inside frame piece with Broken China and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks. I set them aside to dry.
The Simon Says Stamp Picture Book Sweet Cat die cuts the cat out in pieces. To create my cat, I inked a piece of white card stock with Vintage Photo and Gathered Twigs Distress Inks and cut the cat out of that. I inked its tail  piece with Ground Espresso Distress Ink. I also cut another cat out of pink card stock  to make the inner ear and nose pieces. The cat’s tummy was cut out of brown plaid card stock from the Lawn Fawn Fall Perfectly Plaid 6×6 paper pack.
I created several different fall colored surfaces with Distress Inks. I used these for the leaves, acorn, branches and wheat.
The leaves and branches are cut from the Tim Holtz Fall Foliage Thinlets die set and the wheat and acorns are cut from the Tim Holtz Autumn Gathering Decorative Strip and arranged in the bottom left corner of the frame.
To finish the card, I cut a 5″ x 7″ piece of Simon Says Stamp Dark Chocolate card stock and emboss it with the Tim Holtz Dot Matrix embossing folder. I ink the embossed design with Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide. The center card stock piece is one of the patterns from the Lawn Fawn Fall Perfectly Plaid card stock. I distressed the edges with the Prima Distressing Tool and inked the edges with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink. I wrapped May Arts Brown Burlap Twine around the piece and adhered that panel at an angle on the embossed panel with Tim Holtz Hex Fasteners. I created an inner frame piece and inked it with Tumbled Glass and Broken China Distress Ink and stamped on the sentiment with Simon Says Stamp Intense Black ink. I adhered the cat to the bottom right corner of that panel. I adhered the inner frame and frame piece with leaves at an angle over the plaid card stock and added a Tim Holtz Stencil Mark with the number 9 on it to represent the 9th month of September.
I hope you enjoyed the card I created with the adorable Sweet Cat die from Simon Says Stamp’s STAMPtember release and that you join us for this fun challenge by adding your project to Simon Says Stamp’s Monday Challenge Blog for your chance to win a $50 gift voucher to their amazing store.
