Hi Friends, and welcome to a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. It’s that time of year where pumpkin spice lattes fill our cups, apple cider simmers on the stove and cool crisp mornings chill our bones. It’s my favorite time of the year and some of my favorite projects are ones with a Halloween theme. This week’s challenge is just that, Hallween/Dark Colors. If you’re not into Halloween, that’s no problem, just create something with dark colors. Also, this week we’re featuring Tim Holtz products. Creating the Halloween Card
Create leaves by painting on Ranger Multi Matte Medium in thin layer over leaf and sprinkle with Distress Clear Rock Candy Dry Glitter. Allow to completely dry.
Spray leaf with Distress spray stains.
To blend colors together, spray lightly with water. Allow to completely dry.
Create small panel by embossing black cardstock with Tim Holtz Damask embossing folder.
Color over Damask pattern with Carved Pumpkin Distress Crayon. Set aside to allow pigment to completely dry.
Main card panel: Ink cardstock with Ripe Persimmon, Spiced Marmalade and Seedless Preserves using an ink blending tool.
Pull everything together: Ink the edges with Black Soot Distress Ink. Set aside to completely dry.
Making sure the beautiful colors aren’t hidden on main card panel, stamp Tim Holtz Webs background stamp onto plastic with VersaMark embossing ink and Ranger Black embossing powder. I’m using embossable window plastic from JudiKins.
Stamp spider onto another sheet of plastic in the same manner as the webs.
Attach both plastic panels onto main card panel with hex brads as shown above.
Cut 6″ x 8″ Damask patterned cardstock from Tim Holtz Halloween paper stash and mat onto a piece of black cardstock. Mat Damask embossed card panel onto piece of black cardstock and attach to the left top corner. Your main focal panel will go on to of this.
Here, you can see completed card with steps above in mind. It may look hard to do but when you see the process, you can see just how easy it really is. I hope you enjoyed seeing how I put this card together and that you get out your Tim Holtz products, create a beautiful ink blended background and stamp your image on plastic so as not to cover up those beautiful colors. Fabulously spooky card Cathie! I love the background and embossed panel, the colours and whole design of this is awesome! Love the cobweb with the spider in front, very clever to use the acetate, it really makes the whole design pop!

This is amazing, Cathie! I love all the background panels and just can not decide which one is my fave! Love the damask which gives such a wormth to the project and the blended panel behing the web. Such a great aide to use the acetate! LOVE THIS! Hugs, Marzena

Thank you, Lee Ann. It’s a very large card. The entire card dimensions are 6-1/4″ x 8-1/4″. The plastic is cut to the size of the image.

Very beautiful halloween/fall card, so rich with depth of color, very dimensional, I would have never thought of using his supplies in this way and I own almost everything on your list! I learned a lot too! Thank you for sharing how you made this lovely card with us!!! I am so inspired to give this a try! I think this is one Halloween card I would never get tired of looking at or making! Its timeless and classic, elegant and a little edgy. I hope Tim comes by and gives you a thumbs up! Great job! I enjoy sharing my projects along with the process, although most of the time it’s a technique that most already know. I like to think maybe someone who is just getting started in this wonderful crafty world may pick up something new and further their journey into creating with their own hands. I hear so many friends say they could never make something but I think when the process is shown with photos and broken down into steps, it shows just how doable it is and hopefully this encourages someone to pick up a stamp and ink pad and start their own creative journey.
