Hi Friends! I’m so happy you stopped by to see my latest creation for Simon Says Stamp’s Monday Challenge. Our theme this week is, It’s A Stitch Up. I’m still creating Autumn cards and used an awesome technique with layers of ink and a stencil to create a beautiful background. It may look complicated but it’s really simple. All you do is choose some inks and spray them on heavy cardstock, lay down your stencil and watch the images come to life as you gently rub away the top layers of paper with a baby wipe. I have a tutorial below to show you how it’s done. Enjoy!

Begin with a piece of Neenah Solar White 110 lb. cardstcok. Spray the entire piece with Gathered Twigs Distress Spray Stain.
While the cardstock is still wet, spray Forest Moss Distress Spray Stain in random areas. Quickly move on to the next step before the sprays dry.
While the cardstock is still wet, lay stencil over damp, inked cardstock and gently begin to rub away the top layers of paper with a baby wipe. You will see the colors and image come to life. Be careful, this is a slow process and you need to rub the layers away slowly and gently.
Continue to move the stencil around where you want an image. All I want are leaves in my background so I continue to randomly add one leaf after another until I’m pleased with the way it looks. When the panel is completely dry, I add a little Spiced Marmalade and Fossilized Amber to the leaves to brighten them.
To finish the card, I add some leaves left over from other projects and bundle them together. I wrap some burlap twine around the main card panel and place the bundle of leaves under the twine. I add a small butterfly from Tim Holtz Botanical Ephemera and a Big Chat sentiment sticker. I adhere that panel onto a piece of distressed golden yellow cardstock that has been “stitched” with one of the stamps from the Bo Bunny Stitches stamp set. I adhere that to a distressed piece of orange cardstock and finally to a 5″ x 7″ piece of Simon Says Stamp Dark Chocolate cardstock.
