Welcome to another week of fun on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge where our theme this week is, Love Is In The Air. We’re featuring Carabelle Studio products and for my project I created a beautiful card with one of their lovely stamps called, Flowers. I thought this was a beautiful stamp and just needed a simple mixed media background to make it shine front and center. I’ve created a tutorial below on how I put it all together and I hope you find some inspiration for your next project. Enjoy!

The first step in creating the background is to take a 4-3/4″ x 6-3/4″ piece of Bristol Watercolor paper and wet it generously with water.
Sprinkle on Paper Artsy Fusions A Bit Jaded pigment powder in random areas. Allow to completely dry. You can speed this process up with a heat tool.
Next, spritz more water around the edges of the panel and in random areas in the inner portion of the panel. Sprinkle Paper Artsy Fusions Golden Sands pigment powder in the wet areas. Allow this completely dry.
Add some Tim Holtz Design tape in random areas on the panel.
Using Ground Espresso Archival Ink add any background stamp of your choice in random areas on the panel. I used the background stamp from the Tim Holtz Papillon stamp set. Allow the ink to completely dry.
Now lighten the area where you want to place your focal point. You can use diluted white acrylic paint or diluted gesso. Set the panel aside to completely dry.
Using Simon Says Stamp Intense Black ink, I stamp Carabelle Studio’s Flower stamp onto a piece of Tim Holtz Plain Tissue Paper.
Color the flowers to coordinate with your background. I used Copic markers BG01, BG02 and BG05 for the flower petals and Y17 for the flower centers. Tear the tissue paper closely around the edges of the flowers using your fingers.
Before adding the flowers, I add circles in the center area where the flowers will be placed. I use a bottle cap stamped in Dina Wakely Black Gesso for the circles. When the gesso is dry, I brush the center of the panel with Ranger Collage Matte Medium and place the colored flowers that were stamped on tissue paper to the center area. I brush over the flowers with the same collage matte medium and allow this to completely dry.
I add the words “always and forever” from the Tim Holtz Seasonal Chit Chat Sticker set and outline them with lines using a Sakura Black Glaze Gel Pen. I edge the panel with Vintage Photo and Black Soot Distress Ink.
To complete the card, I add more design tape under the flowers and on the top right section of the card. I adhere the panel to a 5″ x 7″ piece of Simon Says Stamp Dark Chocolate cardstock and my card is done.

Ohhhhhhh! This is Infusion brilliance! I usually go too gung-ho with mine and end up with a big mud puddle, so I love how the colors really stand out in yours. I also thought it was genius to do the flowers on the tissue paper. You always teach me new things, so thank you once again!
