Hi friends! Today I’m sharing the third Distress Mixology palette. I came across some beautiful cacti and loved the mixes of greens and purples and thought it would be a lovely mix for my next Distress Mixology experiment. I chose Bundled Sage, Shabby Shutters, Seedless Preserves, Dusty Concord and Villianous Potion.
These choices for me were a bit more difficult to mix because of the light colors of the greens and deep vibrant colors of the purples but that’s what these experiments are all about, picking a palette and seeing what happens.
Distress Inks
This sample was created using Distress Inks only. The method I used was to smoosh each color onto a craft mat, spritz it with water and dip a damp piece of cardstock into the inks. I started with the greens first and then on to the purples. For each color I went from lightest to darkest. I added each color one at a time making sure to dry each layer completely before moving on to the next color.
Distress Oxides
This is a sample using Distress Oxides only. I used the same method for the oxides as I did for the inks. I like how the colors are a bit muted along with how nicely they layer on top of each other.
Distress Spray Stains
For this sample, I sprayed the inks onto a craft mat as opposed to spraying them directly onto the cardstock. I added the inks on one at a time making sure to dry each layer completely before moving on to the next layer. I felt I had more control over where the color went using this method. As you can see, the colors are more vibrant than the Distress Ink pads and I feel like Dusty Concord was a little more hidden than the other colors. It’s there in a very subtle way which is so pretty.
Distress Oxides Sprays
For this sample, I used Distress Oxide Sprays only. Again, I added each color one at a time by spraying one oxide onto a craft mat and dipping the dampened piece of cardstock into the color. I started with the greens and on to the purples going from lightest to darkest. Again, make sure to dry each layer completely before moving on to the next. This turned out more vibrant than the Distress Oxides Pads sample. It’s interesting how they all look so different.
Distress Paints
For this sample, I again worked with one color at a time beginning with the greens and moving onto the purples going from lightest to darkest. I only applied a dab of paint onto a craft mat and spritzed it with water then mixed them together with my finger tips. I didn’t have the Shabby Shutters in paint so that is why you don’t see it in the photo. I love how the paints flow into each other and create such a dreamy effect.
Distress Spray Stains, Oxide Sprays and Paint
For this sample, I used Bundled Sage Oxide Spray, Shabby Shutters, Seedless Preserves and Villianous Potion Distress Spray Stains and Dusty Concord Paint. I feel this one has the most personality. What I mean by that is it has flat areas, areas with depth and muted and deep colored areas. It’s really a mixture of them all which is expected, of course, and so, so pretty.
I hope you enjoyed this color palette for Distress Mixology No. 3 and that you give it a try. I’d love to see what you come up with.
Thanks so much for sticking with me to the end and stay tuned to see what I create using this beautiful color palette.
