Hi Friends! It has been a long time since my last post. Christmas was a busy time for me and I was working behind the scenes for the latest Tim Holtz Sizzix release. Soon I’ll be able to share all that I created for his Chapter 1 Sizzix dies. But today, I’m sharing a project I created using one of the new stencils from Simon Says Stamp’s new Love You, Too release. I was so happy to receive the Simple Duo stencil set which includes two stencils, hearts and stars. I used the heart stencil and created this mixed media piece. - Cut a 4-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ piece of Distress White Mixed Media cardstock
- Brush the cardstock with collage medium and apply Tim Holtz Botanical Collage Paper to center over the collage medium. Brush another layer of collage medium on top of the collage paper. Allow to completely dry.
- Using texture paste, apply the heart stencil over the collage paper. Allow to complete dry.
- Soften the background by dry brushing white gesso over the background.
- Sprinkle Fusions, Frankly Scarlett, pigment powder very lightly over the stenciled hearts.
- Apply water and allow the pigment to flow over the stenciled hearts. Allow to completely dry.
- Splatter white gouache mixed with water over the entire piece.
