Hi Friends! I’m here today sharing a card I created using the Gnomes stencil from the new Cheer & Joy release from Simon Says Stamp. I was so happy to be able to work with this stencil because it’s so adorable and who doesn’t love adorable, right? The first thing I thought of when I saw the stencil were little Santa Gnomes and I thought they would make the most adorable whimsical Christmas card. Below I’ll walk you through the process I used to create this fun card. Enjoy!
The first thing I did was to create dimensional beards. I achieved this by stenciling the beards onto heavy white cardstock with Ranger Grit Paste. After the beards were completely dry, I fussy cut them out and inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I set these aside and stenciled the hats, eyes and nose onto the front of my card. I used Fired Brick Distress Ink to stencil on the hats and gently spritzed them with water for a cool effect. I stenciled on the eyes using the circles on the stencil with Black Soot Archival Ink. I stenciled the nose below the eyes with Tattered Rose Distress Ink. I used the tip of a Q-tip to very gently add rosy cheeks with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink. When the eyes were completely dry, I added little white dots to their eyes with a white gel pen. I adhered the beards to the Santa Gnomes and some trim for their hats.
The sentiment is from the Simon Says Stamp Holiday background stamp, Believe in the Season. I stamped that section of the stamp onto some Simon Says Stamp Schoolhouse Red cardstock with Versamark Embossing Ink and sprinkled on Hero Arts White Embossing Powder and used a heat tool to set the powder. I then cut out that sentiment and inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and adhered it to the card front.
I covered the Santa Gnomes with a piece of paper and inked the edges of the card front with Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide and Peeled Paint Distress Ink. I spritzed it with water to create some water splotches and dusted the areas below the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I stamped on a few snowflakes with Tsukineko Brilliance Galaxy Gold pigment ink and topped the card off with some green and red burlap twine with a Tim Holtz Idea-ology metal piece.
I adhered my card front to a piece of Tim Holtz cardstock and a piece of Simon Says Stamp Schoolhouse Red cardstock.
I hope you head on over to Simon Says Stamp to see all the amazing new products from this release and thanks so much for stopping by.
