Hi Friends! I’m here today with another Halloween card that’s quick and easy to create. Using backgrounds that you have on hand and some easy masking techniques can help you turn out a Halloween card in no time. For the last couple of years Tim Holtz has come out with some awesome haunted house stamps and I’ve loved each and every one of them. This one is so fun and I really wanted it to be the star of the show. I stuck to this one stamp set showing you that you don’t need to have a ton of stamps from a collection to create an awesome card. Enjoy!
- Create a background with Distress Inks and Oxides or choose one from your stash.
- Stamp the house onto the background using Black Soot Archival Ink and color it with Distress Inks and a waterbrush.
- Create a mask for the house and place it over the stamped image on your card panel.
- Stamp the tree next to the house one side using Black Soot Archival Ink.
- Using the branch stamp, stamp it on the top of the house so when you remove the mask it looks like a tree is behind it.
- Remove the mask.
- Color the trees using Distress Inks.
- Replace the mask over the house and stamp the iron gates on both sides using Black Soot Archival Ink.
- Stamp the set of bats in the background.
- Stamp the moon and cloud with Black Soot Distress Ink onto a piece of mixed media paper color them with Distress inks.
- Fussy cut the moon and cloud and place them on your scene wherever you want them to go.
- Adhere the cloud to one side of the card panel over the moon and snip off the excess. Adhere the other half of the cloud on the other side of the card as shown below.
- Cut out two pairs of eyes from the Tim Holtz Theodore die set and adhere them in two of the windows of the house.
To finish the card, ink the edges of the main card panel with Black Soot Distress Ink and adhere it to a piece of coordinating cardstock from the Tim Holtz Departed Paper Stash. Next, mount the entire panel onto a 5″ x 7″ piece of Simon Says Stamp Black cardstock. I added a sentiment from the Tim Holtz Tiny Text Halloween stamp set that was stamped onto a piece of mixed media paper colored with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and cut out with scissors and the card is done!
I hope you enjoyed seeing how I put this spooky Haunted Mansion card together and that you’ll try putting together a fun Halloween scene on your next card. Thanks so much for stopping by!
LOL…I had not noticed the eyes until I was reading the post and came to that section…love it!!!
