Waiting for Fall – Life is Full of Beauty

Hi Friends! I’ve been having a lot of fun playing with the new Distress Mica Sprays. These sprays aren’t just for Halloween even though they are a Halloween release. The colors and shimmer is beautiful and can be used for projects throughout the year. I used several of the sprays to create this card and put together a tutorial to explain how I put it all together. Enjoy!

To begin, I spray pieces of Distress Watercolor cardstock with Flickering Candle and Jack-O-Lantern Mica Spray and dry it with a heat tool. When the cardstock is completely dry, I cut out the two pumpkins from the Tim Holtz Pumpkin Patch die set out of this cardstock. After cutting out the pumpkins, I splatter them with Bubbling Cauldron and Empty Tomb using a splatter brush. Next, I ink the edges with Vintage Photo Distress ink using an ink blending tool.

Next, I spray Peeled Paint, Shabby Shutters and Forest Moss Distress Inks onto a craft mat and spritz them with a bit of water. I run a piece of Distress watercolor cardstock through the ink and water mixture several times until I’m happy with the results making sure to completely dry each layer before moving onto the next. I clean the craft mat and then add a bit of Bubbling Cauldron and Flickering Candle mica spray onto the craft mat and dab the cardstock onto the sprays. I continue this process until I’m pleased with the results making sure to dry each layer before adding another. I then cut out the leaves using the Tim Holtz Fall Foliage die set. After the leaves are cut, I splatter Crooked Broomstick onto the leaves with a splatter brush. Then I ink the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

For the background, I spray a craft mat with Antique Linen Distress Spray and Antique Linen Distres Oxide and spritz them with a bit of water. I cut a 4-1/2″ x 6-1/2″ piece of mixed media cardstock and run this cardstock through the ink, oxide and water mixture. I continue to do this until I’m happy with the results making sure to completely dry each layer with a heat took before adding another layer. Next, using a splatter brush, I splatter on Bubbling Cauldron onto the background in random areas. Then, using an ink blending tool, I add the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Linen stencil in random areas with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and ink the edges with this same ink as well.

To finish the card, I cut a 5″ x 7″ piece of Simon Says Stamp Dark Chocolate cardstock and splatter it with Flickering Candle Distress Mica Spray. I set this piece aside to completely dry. Next, I tear the edges of the main card background in random areas so the beautiful splattered Flickering Candle Mica Spray can peek through and adhere this panel onto the dark chocolate piece. I then arrange the leaves and pumpinks onto the front of the main card panel using 3D foam to give it dimension. Finally, I add on a couple sentiments put together from the Tim Holtz Clippings Stickers set.

I hope you enjoyed seeing how I put this card together and that you grab a set of these awesome mica sprays before they’re gone because this is a seasonal release and when they’re gone, they’re gone.

Thank you so much for sticking with me through the end. I appreciate so much you spending your time with me here!
