HI Everyone! I’m here today with a tutorial on creating a sweet card using Tammy Tutterow Designs Sweet Tweets die set. Over the next few weeks, I’ll share several projects I created using this set and show you just how versatile this adorable die set is. For my card today, I created a fun Spring card using mixed media techniques. I hope you enjoy what I’ve put together for you and that you find something that will inspire you to create. Enjoy!
I begin by cutting a piece of Neenah Solar White 110lb. cardstock as shown above.
I stamp the Tammy Tutterow Dear Ruby stamp onto a piece of Tim Holt Tissue Wrap with Simon Says Stamp Intense Black Ink.
I want the entire background image to cover my main card panel and lay it above the cardstock to see where to place the stamped tissue.
I adhere the stamped image to the cardstock using Distress Vintage Collage Medium. I apply the medium to the surface of the cardstock and lay the tissue wrap over the cardstock. Next, I apply another layer of medium on top of the stamped tissue wrap and allow this to completely dry. You can speed up the process by using a heat tool.
When the panel is completely dry, cut off the excess tissue wrap around the edges of the cardstock.
I create three borders from the Tammy Tutterow Sweet Trims die set out of Neenah Solar White 110lb. cardstock.
After cutting the trims out, I brush them with Dina Wakley White Gesso and allow them to completely dry.
I want to distress the trims, so I use the Tim Holtz Distress Tool and distress the straight edges, then I tear a tiny bit off of the end of each trim.
I adhere the trims to one side of the card panel using Distress Collage Matte Medium.
When the panel is completely dry, I add Ground Espresso Distress Crayon pigment to the edges of the panel and rub the pigment in with my fingertips.
Next, I distress the edges with the distress tool and my background is complete.
I begin to create some of the fun elements I want to add to the card. First, I cut out all the pieces for the body of the bird out of Neenah Solar White 110lb. cardstock and ink them with Simon Says Stamp Winter Sky and Duckling premium inks. The feet and beak are also cut from Neenah cardstock and inked with Ground Espresso and Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.
I assemble the bird using Ranger Multi Matte Medium and add a little eye with a Staedtler Triplus Fineliner.
I cut the branch out of Neenah cardstock. An easy way to color intricate die cuts is to leave them in the cardstock and ink them before removing them as shown above.
Here you can see the variations of color and the branch didn’t rip or tear while applying the ink.
For the intricate flowers from the die set, I cut them out of Neenah Solar White cardstock and ink the edges with Simon Says Stamp Rose Apple ink.
I shape the flowers using the Elizabeth Craft Design Flower Shaping tool kit.
To complete the card, I create some leaves from the Sew Sweet Valentine die set and ink them with Shabby Shutters and Peeled Paint Distress Ink. The large flower is from the Tammy Tutterow Designs Pinwheel Posies die set. You can see how I put this flower together here. This flower is colored with Simon Says Stamp Duckling ink. The pink flower centers were created using Ranger Multi Matte Medium and Prima Black Micro Beads.
I hope you enjoyed seeing how I put this sweet card together. Join me again for another beautiful and sweet card created with this same die set next week. It’s just as sweet but totally different. Have an awesome weekend and thanks for stopping by!
