Hi Everyone! Today I’m sharing a beautiful card I created using one of the new dies from the Simon Says Stamp Sending Sunshine release. The Marilyn Full Card wafer die is an elegant and beautiful die and I had so much fun using it to create a Mother’s Day card. This new release is full of beautiful stamps, dies and more! You can see the entire collection by clicking on the icon below:
I hope you enjoy the simple tutorial I put together for you below. Enjoy!
To begin, cut the Marilyn die out of Neenah Solar White cardstock. You will need to run this through the die cut machine several times or use a metal shim in the sandwich. Set aside.
Cut a piece of 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Bristol Watercolor paper and spritz with water. Next, smudge Evergreen Bough, Cracked Pistachio, Mermaid Lagoon and Broken China Distress Inks onto a craft mat. Spritz the inks with water and run the wet watercolor paper through the inks. You can do this several times until you’re pleased with the way your background looks. Allow to completely dry.
When the inks are dry, cover the inked watercolor paper with Distress Collage Matte Medium, applying the medium to the entire panel.
Next, lay the Marilyn die cut panel over the top of the watercolored panel and press. Apply another coat of collage medium over the top making sure to apply an even layer. Set aside to completely dry.
To complete the card, adhere some ribbon to the bottom half of the die cut panel and adhere to a 4-1/2″ x 5-3/4″ piece of coordinating cardstock. Add a couple of flowers and a tag with the sentiment of your choice. For a little elegance, I adhered a half pearl to the center of the die cut design.
I hope you enjoyed seeing how I put this beautiful card together using the new Simon Says Stamp Marilyn Full Card die. Thank you so much for joining me today and I hope you check out all the other lovely products from this amazing release.
Beautiful, so soft, Cathie! Your flowers and that little bit of lace trim is perfection with this lovely die!
What does the collage medium do applying it over the diecut? Help adhere it to the card front?
Yes, Linda, a layer of collage medium applied on top of an intricate die cut helps to ensure a solid adherence all around but most especially on the corners.
