Hi friends! I’m in a pinch to create some Valentine’s Day cards and with it only being 3 days away I’ve got to get my ink on!! If you need a quick and simple background that you can whip up in a matter of minutes, than you’re in the right place! Below I’ll show you how to do just that and you’ll find it so fun and relaxing that you’re probably going to get out your stash of embossing folders and spend the afternoon getting inky. Enjoy!
Begin by cutting a piece of Distress watercolor or mixed media heavystock the same size as your embossing folder and emboss. Gently rub the Distress Embossing Ink pad over the design.
Make sure to lay your embossed card panel on top of a folded piece of paper. Before the embossing ink dries, sprinkle clear embossing powder over the entire design. Remove excess embossing powder by lifting the panel and tapping off the extra powder over the folded piece of paper. Return the unused embossing powder that fell from the card panel back to the bottle. Don’t worry about the embossing powder falling between the lines of the design. This is what makes the background look so amazing.
For this next step, you can spray Distress Spray Stains onto a craft mat or you can just smudge a Distress Ink pad onto a craft mat and spritz it with water. First, wet the entire embossed panel with water using a paint brush and then use that same paintbrush to pick up colors from the craft mat and begin painting over the embossed design. Continue doing this process until you are happy with the results. Remember to completely dry the panel before adding another layer of inks over the top.
Dry completely with a heat tool and that’s it! See, I told you it was a super fun and easy technique.
I hope you enjoyed seeing how I created the background for my Valentine’s Day card and that you give this technique a try. Thank you so much for sticking with me to the end. I really appreciate you spending your time here with me.
