Hi friends! Today I’m back with another Distress Mixology color palette. This one is filled with deep rich colors along with a bright pop of yellow and a subtle dab of gray. For this mixology experiement I used Dusty Concord, Fossilized Amber, Hickory Smoke and Chipped Sapphire. I used Distress Ink and Oxide pads and sprays along with Fossilized Amber and Hickory Smoke Embossing glazes. Enjoy!
I completed the same process as I have with the first three Distress Mixology experiments but with this one I elimated paint from the experiment and instead used embossing glazes. I used the glazes in the finished project instead of on the backgrounds. Below are each of the results from my play time.
Distress Ink Pads
The process used for this experiment is by smooshing one color of Distress ink pad onto a craft mat and spritzing it with a bit of water. I complete this process with one color at a time going from the lightest color to the darkest. I continue this process until I’m happy with the results making sure to dry each layer before moving on to the next.
Distress Oxide Pads
The results with the Distress Oxide pads were achieved using the same process as with the Distress Ink pads. Remember to add one color at a time and it’s best to go from lightest to darkest.
Distress Spray Stains
To achieve this look for my panel, I spritzed a piece of mixed media cardstock with a bit of water and then sprayed on one of the spray stains. After spraying on the spray stain I spritzed a bit of water onto the stain to get it moving. Next, I used a heat tool to dry the stain. I completed this process with each color making sure to dry each color between adding the next.
Distress Oxide Spray
This panel was achieved using the same process as with the Distress Spray Stains. As you can see these colors are much lighter but look at what the oxides do in some areas. The beautiful blue colors that come from the Dusty Concord oxide spray are gorgeous. I love what happens when using oxides because it’s always a surprise waiting to be revealed and no two surprises are alike.
Distress Ink & Oxide Pads and Stain & Oxide Sprays
This panel was created using a little of each of the different mediums. It’s a perfect mixture of the oxides and inks and I love how it turned out.
I hope you enjoyed this color palette for my Distress Mixology No. 4 experiments. I plan on creating something with these panels for inspiration. If you are joining in all the fun with me, please tag me so I can see what you create with this color palette.
Thanks so much for sticking with me to the end. I appreciate the time you spend here with me!
