Full of Wonder - New Idea-ology - Daydreams In Paper

Hi friends! Today I’m sharing a card I created using some of the new Tim Holtz Idea-ology pieces. I love making backgrounds for cards out of Tim’s ephemera. Sifting through all the tiny pieces of images is so fun and putting them together to create a background is one of my favorite things to do. I was finally able to work with the new Blossom die set also and incorporated that with the new Idea-ology.

To create the blossom, I cut all the pieces out of Distress white mixed media cardstock and using Simon Says Stamp Blending brushes ink the outside edges of the petals. I ink the inner piece of the stemen with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and the outer piece of the stemen with Ground Espresso Distress Ink. When the ink is completely dry on each of the pieces, I adere the stemen pieces together and splatter them with Peeled Paint Distress Paint and set that aside to dry. I splatter the petal pieces of the blossom with Black Soot Distress Paint and set that aside to completely dry.

When the paint on all of the pieces is completely dry, I adhere the pieces together to create the blossom and though it is not shown in the photo, I ink all the edges of the outer petals with Vintage Photo Archival Ink.

To begin the card front, I cut a 4.25″ x 5.5″ piece of canvas paper. This paper is a little thin so I attached it to a piece of Distress white heavystock that was cut to the same size. I did that because I wanted there to be texture behind the collage paper when I collaged it onto the paper.

I choose the ephemera pieces that coordinate with the blossom I created and ink the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Archival Ink. I arrange the collage paper and ephemera pieces on the card front where I want them to go and attach them to the card front not worrying if pieces are hanging over the edge.

After the collage medium is completely dry, I turn the card front over and clip away any excess ephemera and collage paper that is hanging over the egde.

I add more ephemera and the Blossom die to the edge of the card front. I then cut off any flower petals from the Blossom that are hanging over the edge.

To complete the card, I round the edges of the card front with a 1/2″ corner rounder. I add some of the new large fasteners that have been hammered to each of the corners. I then chose a few pieces of metal ink them with Mushroom alcohol ink and attach them in random areas. The “Full of Wonders” Idea-ology piece is one from an old collection of Idea-ology.

I adhere the card front to a piece of 4.5″ x 5.75″ piece of Simon Says Stamp Dark Chocolate cardstock that has been distresed along the edges. I attach some 3D foam tape to the back of the dark chocolate cardstock and attach that onto a piece of 5″ x 6.25″ piece of Distress Kraft Heavystock that has been inked with Ground Espresso Distress Archival ink.
