Hi friends! I’m in the thick of the holiday making season and having so much fun. Today I created a couple of gift tags using collage paper. I have some black wrapping paper with white snowflakes on it and thought these tags would look so pretty with it. They’re so easy to create by doing a bit of collaging and ink blending. I don’t have a step out tutorial this week but I will do my best to explain how I put them all together. Enjoy!
I begin creating a tage using the Tim Holtz Sizzix Stacked Tag die set out of Distress Kraft Heavystock. I run the tag through Distress Gathered Twigs and Ground Espressos spray stains that I sprayed onto a craft mat. I did this a few times until I was happy with the results making sure to dry each layer completely before moving on to the next. I wanted a few areas with highlights so I sprayed Antique Linen Oxide Spray on a craft mat and picked a bit of it with the tag. I spritzed a bit of water over the tag and dried it with a heat tool. When the spray stains were completely dry, I stamped on some beautiful greenery with pine cones from the Stampers Anonymous Winter Watercolor 2 stamp set in Black Soot Archival Ink. I then splatterd the tag with Tarnished Brass Distress Paint and set the tag aside to dry.
Using the Aviary Collage Paper from Idea-ology, I created two panels for the focus points of the tag. I cut a piece of heavy white cardstock and brushed collage medium over the entire piece. Next, I carefully placed the collage paper over the medium and smoothed it over the surface then I applied another layer of collage medium over the top of the collage paper. When the pieces were both completely dry, I inked the edges with Vinage Photo Distress Ink. I cut a piece of metallic cardstock just a little larger than the collaged pieces with the Tim Holtz Deckle Torn Edge Trimmer to create a backdrop for the imagery and adhered the two pieces together.
I cut a couple pieces of greenery from the Sizzix Festive Bouquet die set out of metallic cardstock. I brushed the cardstock with collage medium and sprinkled Ranger Mica Flakes over the top for a frosted look.
Creating the sentiments was super easy by using one of the tag dies from the Tim Holtz Sizzix Pocket Frame die set, applying a rub on sentiment from the Idea-ology Christmas Tiny Text Remnant Rubs onto the tag and painting the edges with Tarnished Brass Distress Paint.
Putting it all together:
I applied some Idea-ology Christmas Trim Tape around the tags and adhered the collaged panels to one side of each tag. I inked a couple of Idea-ology pinecones with mushroom alchol ink and tied the frosted greenery, sentiment tag and pinecone together with twine and adhered it next to the collaged piece. I sprayed some ribbon with Tarnished Brass Spray Stain and when completely dry, tied the ribbon to the top of the tags.
I hope you enjoyed seeing how I put these beautiful tags together and that you’re having as much fun as I am during this holiday making season. Thank you so much for stopping by and sticking with me to the end. I truly appreciate you spending your time here with me. Have a great rest of your week!
