Hi friends! I hope you’re having a wonderful week. Today I’m sharing a fun project I created using the ever so amazing Gladys. She is a flamingo of many colors and today I have her frolicking on the beach blending in with the beautiful colors of the ocean. If you’ve been following me for some time you know how much I love to create scenes and that my favorite place on earth is on a beach. This beach scene is so simple to create and I’ll show you how in the steps below. Enjoy!
Start by making a simple panel by cutting a piece of 5″ x 7″ piece of mixed media cardstock and inking on a simple sky with Broken China Distress Ink with a blending tool. You only need to ink the top portion of the panel.
Next, cut two more pieces of mixed media cardstock 5″ x 7″ and watercolor them as shown above. Tear off the top of the panel and curl the tears with the end of a tiny paintbrush to make “waves”.
Adhere the watercolored piece with the sandy beach onto the bottom of the full size panel that you created in step 1.
Next, adhere the second wave behind the sandy beach panel with the first wave by tucking it underneath. That’s it! It looks messy and not much like a beach but it’s all we need for the background because the die cuts will do the rest of the work making it look fabulous.
For my beach scene I added Gladys, front and center of course, along with some palm trees, birds and foliage.
I hope you enjoyed seeing how I created this fun beach scene and that you give it a try. Thanks so much for stopping by, I appreciate you spending your time here with me!
