Welcome Baby!

Hello friends! I’m sure you’ve seen the Tim Holtz Sizzix Halloween dies for 2022 but believe me when I tell you, they’re not just for Halloween! I created this adorable card using the Otis and Mischievous die sets in a whole new way. I also used the Snowy Stars die set that came out for Christmas a couple of years ago. The snowy stars die set is retired but I like to feature older dies in my designs because you may just have them in your collection. A good substitute would be the Tim Holtz Falling Stars background die that is still available. Just use the same steps as below with that die for a starry background. It’s so fun to see what ways you can use dies that you have in your collection for just about any occasion whether they were intended for that use or not. Enjoy!

Begin by cutting out a starry background from a 4.5″ x 6.5″ piece of Distress white heavystock paper.

Place Otis in the center of your starry background and run it through a die cut machine.

This is what you should have when your die cuts are complete.

Adhere a yellow piece of cardstock or inky background behind the die cut image or any color you like.

Now just begin building Otis and place his base piece in the cut out area, or build him and prop him up a bit with 3D tape to give him more dimension. That’s it! Now all you have to do is build your scene around this image.

Measurements for each of the mats:

  1. Main card front with Otis measures 4.5″ x 6.5″.
  2. Purple mat under main card front measures 5″ x 6.75″ before distressing the edges.
  3. Brown mat piece measures 5.5″ x 7.5″.

I hope you enjoyed this short tutorial to get started on building a sweet scene with Otis and those mischievous cats! Thanks so much for stopping by and spending your time with me here. I really appreciate it!

Have an amazing week!

  1. Hi! This is absolutely beautiful!! I love the colors!!

Do you recall what size your paper is? I guess it doesn’t really matter. Thanks!

    • Hi Karen,
Thank you for your sweet comments and I’m so sorry! I forget to put measurements in my instructions. I have to admit I forget to put the measurements in my blog posts so thanks for asking. I have updated the post to show the measurements of each of the mats that make up the card. The main card front with Otis measures 4.5″ x 6.5″. The middle purple mat measures 5″ x 6.75″ and the brown mat measures 5.5″ x 7.5″. It’s a large card.
