Hi Friends! Today I’m sharing a card I made after I had an idea of coloring an image with alcohol inks. I wasn’t sure it would even work but decided to give it a try and just see how it turned out. I had been watching some video from Sharon AK Harris, an alcohol ink artist, and was amazed at what she did with alcohol inks. Her methods were the inspiration behind this idea and because I can’t draw, I decided to use a stamped image to direct my alcohol ink coloring. Enjoy!

I stamp a couple of the images from the Tim Holtz Mini Bouquet stamp set onto a piece of Yupo paper with Antique Linen Distress Ink.
First thing, make sure you are working in a well ventilated area.
Using a dry fine-tipped paint brush that I only use with alcohol inks, I begin to add the ink over the stamped image. The ink dries extremely quickly so you’ll spend a lot of time picking up ink and applying it to the image. To move the ink after it dries, use alcohol ink blending solution.
I continue to use the same process to color the wildflower’s stamen.
Just to get the image on the page with the alcohol ink, I move on to the stem. After the basic image of the flower is on the paper with alcohol inks, I go in and add volume to the petals, add leaves to the stem and fine tune everything until I’m happy with the way it turned out. I work with alcohol blending solution to get things moving when needed.
I free hand the stems but there is a stamp in the set that has leaves which, in hindsight, I wish I would have used. I hope you enjoyed seeing how I colored this wildflower image with alcohol inks and that you give it a try.
