Hi Friends! Today I created a fun and festive card to celebrate the 4th of July. My background is a mixture of Distress Oxides and Inks and the theme is put together using a combination of a couple of different styles of Sizzix dies. Join me below as I explain how I put it all together and to all of my American friends, have a amazing Independence Day celebration!
The background I created for my card is a combination of Distress Oxide colors, Chipped Sapphire, Faded Jeans and Blueprint Sketch. I smoosh the pads of each color onto a glass media mat and spritz with water. I spritz the mixed media paper with water a run it through the mixture picking up color. I do this about three times making sure to dry each layer completely before moving on to the next. I clean off the glass mat before moving on to the next addition of color. After cleaning the mat, I place one small drop of Faded Jeans Distress Ink onto the glass mat. (That’s one small drop, NOT an entire dropper full.) I spritz it with water and pick up the color in areas where I want some bold colors. I spritz it with water as I’m drying this layer and dab up the pools of water with a paper towel.
I cut a piece of Tim Holtz Memoranda Paperie that coordinates with my theme and adhere it to the base panel of my card cut from Simon Says Stamp Schoolhouse Red cardstock. I adhere the top panel onto that and use my sewing machine to create scribbled lines onto the edges of the paper with blue and red thread.
I create rockets and a date tag from the Tim Holtz Americana Sidekick die set and add those to the top half of the card.
I create a couple of dimensional stars and flat stars and add those to the top half of the card as well.
To finish the card I adhere some Tim Holtz Fringe to the card along with white Transparent Alpha Tiles spelling out USA.
I hope you enjoyed seeing how I put this fun and festive 4th of July card together. Thank you so much for sticking with me to the end. Have a safe and happy 4th of July. See you soon!
