Hello friends! Today I’m sharing yet another fun Halloween creation showcasing the new Tim Holtz, Sizzix Chapter 3 release. This is such a fun release with so many possibilities. I’ll be venturing beyond the Halloween theme in the coming weeks so tune in to see what other creative ways to use this new release. I’ll walk you through my most recent creation and if you have any quesitons, don’t hesitate to reach out. I love to answer questions. Enjoy!
I begin by creating a spooky background with a mixture of Distress Ink Sprays and Mica Stain Sprays. For the background I used, Distress Spray Stains: Black Soot, Villanous Potion, Fossilized Amber and Distress Mica Stain Sprays: Flickering Candle and Jack-O-Lantern. I used the Tim Holtz Moon Mask underneath Otis (the moon).
I cut Otis out of various distress ink and oxide sprayed mixed media papers. I sit down once a month and create a ton of colors and keep them in a bin so I have them ready to pull out whenever I need to put something together. I created Otis for this card without his tongue to give him a more happy, mischeivous look instead of a frightened look.
These cats are so fun and I couldn’t help but create a fence for them to frolick on while they caused trouble. The fence was created by cutting two pieces, one from woodgrain cardstock that was inked with Vintage Photo and Ground Espresso Distress Spray Stains and the other piece out of mixed media cardstock that was inked with a light spray of Vintage Photo Distress Spray Stain and edged with Ground Espresso Distress Ink. I slightly offset the two fences to create a layered and dimensional fence. The tombstones were cut out from some grey inked mixed media cardstock in my stash and I applied some spider and writing remnant rubs on them.
The hills were created from the Home for the Holidays die set that was released a couple seasons ago. I cut them out of leather effects cardstock that was inked with various green Distress inks and sprays. If you don’t have this die set you can easily hand cut hills out of cardstock using a scissors.
I inked a small piece of mixed media cardstock with Spiced Marmalade Distress ink. I then cut the sentiment label using one of the labels from the new Vintage Labels die set. I inked the die with Black Soot Distress Archival ink and then ran it through the die cut machine to cut and ink the piece at the same time. The words are from the Tim Holtz Curiosities Sticker Book and were perfect for the scene that I created.
I mounted the card onto some old school Tim Holtz Halloween paper that came out quite a few years ago and Simon Says Stamp Black cardstock.
I hope you enjoyed this playful Halloween card and that it sparked some inspiration for you to get out those dies and inks and have some spooky Halloween fun!
Thanks so much for sticking with me to the end. I appreciate you spending time with me and I hope you have a fabulous rest of your day!
