Retro Halloween Gift Cards

Hi friends! Today I’m sharing some fun Halloween gift card holders that were created using the new Tim Holtz Sizzix Retro Halloween die set. It’s a set with a cast of adorable characters that you’ll remember from the past, at least you will if you’re around my age. They fit perfectly with the gift card holder from the Collector die set from the Tim Holtz Sizzix chapter 3 release. I’ve put together a tutorial below so let’s get started. Enjoy!

Begin by cutting all the characters from the Retro Halloween die set. Cut the outlines out of black Idea-ology Halloween Deco Sheets and the base of each character out of inked or colored cardstock.

Next, cut the gift card holders from the Tim Holtz Sizzzix Collector die set out of Ranger Kraft Heavystock and spray each with an array of Halloween colors of Distress Oxides. When the ink is completely dry, splatter each gift card holder with Black Soot Distress Paint using a splatter brush.

Ink the edges of each gift card holder with Distress Archival Black Soot ink using an ink blending tool.

Glue the pieces of each character together and decide which gift card holder with which they look best.

Glue the gift card holders together and stamp with a fun Halloween sentiment from the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Mr. Bones stamp set (CMS435). Add some images, like the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Tapestry (CMS414) stamp set, in random areas of the background.

To finish the gift card holders, adhere some Idea-ology Halloween Black Fringe to the center of each holder and adhere the character on top. I found it easiest to use Distress Collage Medium and then place the gift card under something heavy for about 5 minutes. This will ensure that everything is glued down nice and secure.
