Distress Mixology No. 6

Hi friends! I’m here today with another Distress Mixology experiment. I decided to use the new Distress Holiday Crayons and come up with a few combinations that I thought would look beautiful together. These crayons are so creamy and shimmery so I decided to use them with the new Stampers Anonymous 2023 Christmas stencils. Below are the combinations I put together and what process I used. Remember, I’ll be back in a couple of days with inspiration on how I used these experiments by making them into cards, tags, backgrounds, etc. Enjoy!

I love these new crayons and the beautiful array of colors. I unpacked all the crayons and began pairing them together with what I thought would be pretty.

.

My first combination is Unraveled, Ominous Twighlight and Phantom Mist. I thought these would be beautiful together and I was right. All I did was draw over the stars with the crayons in random areas and blend them in with wet fingertips. These colors worked perfectly together and I love how they settled in the crevices of the stars.

.

For this tag I used Juniper Berry, Wonderland and Frosty Mint. They work so well together and if you love blues and greens together as much as I do then I think you’ll love this combination. All I did on this tag is color over the stenciled areas with the crayons, Juniper Berry on the top, Wonderland in the middle and Frosty Mint on the bottom portion of the tag. I then blended the colors together with a paintbrush dipped in water instead of using my fingertips. I just “painted” on the water from the top all the way down to the bottom and allowed the colors to blend together. This is a really quick and easy way to make a background.

.

For this tag, I didn’t pair colors together for blending but for the obvious design of the stencil. This stencil is called Berry Leaves so I colored the leaves using Specimen and the berries Yuletide. I colored the leaves first by coloring over them with the crayon and then using a wet paintbrush to blend out the pigment avoiding the berries. I then completely dried this layer before coloring the berries with the Yuletide crayon.

Now that I have three tags to work with I’ll be back with some inspiration and show you how I used them in a project. I hope you enjoyed this edition of Distress Mixology and I hope you’ll stop by in a couple of days to see my inspiration. Thanks so much for stopping by!
