Distress Mixology No. 5 Inspiration – Noel

Hi friends. It’s been a long time between my Distress Mixology No. 5 experiments and providing some inspiration for the experiments. I’ve had a few things going on in life that have prevented me from having the time to post my inspiration but today’s the day. You can find Distress Mixology No. 5 and all the results of my experiments here. I hope you enjoy seeing how I put this tag together using the latest Distress Mica Spray Stains. Enjoy!

To begin, I chose a couple of the tags from my Distress Mixology No. 5 experiments and stenciled on a couple of Christmas floral backgrounds using Distress black opaque texture paste. Allowed these tags to completely dry before moving on to the next step.

When the texture paste is completely dry, paint the flowers with Distress Mica Stains using a paintbrush. Shake the bottle well to mix the mica and stain together. Using the nozzle, drip a drop or two of the mica stain onto a craft mat and pick it up with the paintbrush and paint. It’s that simple. Make sure to mix the stain around with the paintbrush each time you pick up more color so you have a good mixture of mica and stain.

Here is a close-up of the painted poinsettias. Isn’t it beautiful!

For the letters, I sprayed a bit of watercolor cardstock with mica spray and cut out the letters using the new Tim Holtz Santa’s Greetings die set. I cut them out of black cardstock also and layered them together to give the letters a back shadow.

For the ribbon, I sprayed a piece of vintage cream colored ribbon with Frozen Fog and Yuletide Mica Spray Stain. These stains make beautiful ribbons that shimmer and shine.

To finish the tag, I adhered the letters to the front of the tag and attached the ribbon at the top. This tag took less than a half hour to create and was so much fun.
