If You Got It – Haunt It

Hi friends! Who loves a Halloween card that’s a little different? Maybe one for a friend that’s on the hipster side or one that just loves a a card that makes them chuckle. I love those kinds of cards because, let’s face it, who doesn’t like a card that makes them smile. I hope this card does just that for you. Below is a tutorial on how I put the whole card together. Enjoy!

Begin by cutting a 6″ x 8″ piece of mixed media cardstock and spritz it lightly with a bit of water. Immediately, sprtiz with Vintage Photo Distres Spray Stain. Add a bit more water if needed and dry with a heat tool. Next, use a stamp platform to stamp the skeleton body from the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Inventor 4 stamp set (CMS347) and the Hipster characters from the Wicked Hipsters stamp set (CMS439) in Black Soot Archival Ink.

Color the headband of the hipster with Crackling Campfire and Fossilized Amber Distress Inks and a waterbrush.

Stamp the bowtie from the Wicked Hipster stamp set onto a piece of mixed media cardstock and color with Crackling Campfire and Fossilized Amber and a waterbrush. Fussy cut the bowtie out with a snippet scissors and go over the cut edges with a black marker.

Stamp both pairs of sunglasses from the same stamp set in Dusty Concord Distress Ink and sprinkle clear embossing powder over the wet ink. Set the embossing powder with a heat tool and color the inside of the glasses with a silver liquid chrome marker.

Fussy cut the sunglasses with a snippet scissors and go over the cut edges with a black marker.

Splatter the main card panel with Crackling Campfire and Black Soot Distress paint using a splatter brush. Be sure to cover the images with masking paper or scraps of paper that fit just inside the stamped images before splattering. Set aside to completely dry or dry with a heat tool before moving on to the next step.

When the splatters are completely dry, ink the edges with Black Soot Distres Ink using an ink blending tool.

Adhere the sunglasses and bowtie to the hipsters using 3D foam squares to give them some dimension.

Write your fun sentiment in a creepy font onto white cardstock with a black fineline black marker and cut the sentiment out with snippet scissors. Ink the edges with Black Soot Distress Ink.

To create the background piece for the card, ink the edges of a 6-1/4″ x 8-1/4″ piece of Distres Cracked Leather cardstock with Black Soot Distress Paint and allow it to completely dry. When the paint is dry, rub on silver metallique wax over the leather design using your fingertips.

To finish the card, adhere a strip of inked cardstock to the bottom of the front card panel and adhere the sentiment over the strip. Adhere the main card panel to the base card panel and you’re done!

I hope you enjoyed seeing how I put this card together. These wicked hipsters are so fun and I don’t know about you but I’d love to party with these characters!

Thanks so much for stopping by and sticking with me to the end. I really appreciate the time you spend here with me.
