Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge – It’s Written In The Stars

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you’re enjoying STAMPtember this year. I know I am! All the collaborations are amazing and I’m so excited to show you the latest one. It’s from none other than, Tim Holtz. There are so many possibilities with these stamps. From cards, to tags to home decor, this set has it all! It’s amazing, but once it’s gone, it’s gone, so don’t hesitate and grab yours before it’s too late.
Now on to the Monday Challenge for this week. Our theme is, It’s Written In The Stars. All we’re asking is that you add stars to your project. Simple, right? For my project, I created a  card with dimensional stars and other fun elements. I hope you enjoy seeing the process I used to put everything together below. Enjoy!
Also, please don’t forget to check out our September guest designer, Carol Harper from Carol Stamps. She’s awesome and I know you’ll enjoy her work.
I begin by cutting a 5″ x 7″ piece of Neenah Desert Storm card stock and stencil on the Hero Arts Stars Pattern Stencil with Ice Blue and Snowflake PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Paints.
Next, I brush on some of the same colors of paint in the background where the focal point will be placed.
Over the center focal area, I stencil on The Crafter’s Workshop Art Is stencil with PaperArtsy Lake Wanaka Fresco Finish Paint.
I add some doodling around the edges with a Uni-ball Signo White Gel Pen.
To finish the background, I paint around the edges with PaperArsty Ice Blue Fresco Finish Paint.
I make three of the stars from the Tim Holtz Dimensional Stars die set and paint them with Brushed Pewter Distress Paint.
The sentiment is one of the chips from the Tim Holtz Quote Chips collection that I lightly paint around the edges.
To finish the card I place the three dimensional stars in the center of the card on top of a gathering of May Arts Ivory and Light Blue Burlap String.  I add three different sizes of  mirrored stars, three different sizes of baubles and the sentiment and my card is done.
I hope you enjoyed seeing the process I used to create the background and some of the elements for my “It’s Written In The Stars” project and that you join us for this fun challenge by adding your project to Simon Says Stamp’s Monday Challenge Blog for your chance to win a $50 gift voucher to their amazing store.
