Under The Sea

Hi Everyone! Today, I’m here with a card I created using the new, Under The Sea, stamp set from Simon Says Stamp. It’s part of their new release, Fluttering By. This particular stamp set has several adorable undersea creatures with happy and cheerful faces along with coordinating encouraging sentiments. I can’t tell you how much fun I had putting this card together. I hope you’ll pop over to see all the other amazing products from this release and if you’re interested, I’ve included a little tutorial below on how I put this card together. Enjoy!

Keep On Swimming Handmade Card - Step 1

To begin, I stamp and color four of the adorable sea creatures.

After coloring the sea creatures, I return the stamped cardstock to the MISTI and re-stamp the images.

Next, I fussy cut out each sea creature for my card.

I create the underwater sea by smudging Mermaid Lagoon, Cracked Pistachio, Evergreen Bough and Broken China Distress Inks onto a craft mat and spritz the inks with water. I also spritz the piece of cardstock with water as well. I run the cardstock through the inks to pick up the colors and keep doing this until I’m pleased with the result.

To create the coral for the sea bottom, I use the same process as I used for the underwater sea using Abandoned Coral and Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks. I don’t have any coral dies but I used some greenery from the Tim Holtz Holiday Greens and Holiday Greens Mini Thinklits die sets for the coral and I think it turned out awesome.

Keep On Swimming Handmade Card - Step 7

I created some rocks for the sea bottom out of leftover pieces of “stone” I created from my last project. You can see how I created it here.

To complete the card, I added all the pieces to create and underwater scene of happy sea creatures among the coral and rocks as shown above on the main card panel. I adhered that panel onto a piece of Bristol watercolor paper inked with Abandoned Coral and Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks. I stamped on the sentiment from the set and the card is done!

I hope you enjoyed seeing how I put this card together and that you pop on over to Simon Says Stamp and check out all the other items from this beautiful release. Thanks for stopping by!
